    @KalpanaS — ‘Into the Wild’ is an amazing film — heavy duty. You seem like a film connoisseur — if you have suggestions for uplifting and inspiring film clips please let me know!

    @Dangerous Linda,
    How can a movie about a young man who dihonors his parents and kills himself be “uplifting and inspirational”?

    @Hi, PAUL! ~

    I saw this as an inspiring story about a young man who passionately embraced the life HE wanted to live, in spite of the social and physical dangers posed by that choice. I believe this is the ultimate responsibility each of us carries into life, but few people honor.

    As far as ‘killing’ himself, I saw that from a different perspective, also. He died living his dream.

    Brings a favorite Thoreau quote to mind: “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.”

    In what way do you interpret him as having brought shame or disgrace on his family? As a mother, I would be devastated but no less proud of him if he were my son.

    What movie(s) do YOU find uplifting and inspiring?

    Thank you for visiting and sharing your ideas! I value your input

    How about ‘Life of Brian’- ‘always look on the bright side of life’ closing scene.
    Nobody puts Baby in the corner’Dirty Dancing
    Space Odyssey 2001 – that famous Strauss background
