“The job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery.” ~ Francis Bacon
“There’s no retirement for an artist, it’s your way of living so there’s no end to it.” ~ Henry Moore
.
I’m thrilled to announce my official return to my private practice of photographic portraiture after a three year hiatus. Actually, it was more like a sabbatical, funded by Corporate America, to explore the portrait biz from different angles and perspectives. This experience helped to strengthen and refine my vision of my professional portrait business.
.
.
When it comes to professional photographic portraits there’s an option for every possible preference. You can purchase point-and-shoot passport photos like the ones at left at CVS Pharmacy. Or you can hire an award-winning artist, like myself, to create a unique, custom, fine art portrait like the ones pictured here. And every possible variation in between.
.
.
To choose a portrait photographer ask yourself these questions:
1. What is the purpose of the portrait? Are you looking for a passport photo, a current publicity image for online use, a keepsake snapshot, a family heirloom, or something even more special?
2. Do you prefer traditional portrait styles using standard, structured poses or something more non-traditional, fun and expressive? Would you prefer an in-studio session or something more lively and unique like an on-location, personal pictorial or an action adventure involving the entire family?
3. Do you prefer to work with a photographic technician who will faithfully carry out your instructions or are you looking for a creative artist who will translate your personal story through his/her artistic vision?
.
Keep in mind that there are no right or wrong answers to the above questions. There are, however, right and wrong photographers for you depending on your answers to these questions.

Now, if I could only do this with words, maybe I’d be in business, too. I’ll have to meditate on this one.
Everyone, Linda knows how to make us look good.

These are awesome photographs Linda. The mother/ daughter picture is magical. What a gift you have for capturing a moment in time and translating it into art. All these shown are impressive. I should hire you for my book jacket photo:) Or do the publishers take charge of that?

@Clarence — Thank you for stopping by! As you know, it is not my business to “make people look good” but rather to capture the beauty that is within each person. That does remind me of the purpose behind your writing, after all. I think what you need to be in business is to get paid
@Debra — Thank you for your kind words! I have shot many a book jacket and I look forward to shooting yours SOON!

Looking at these pictures, it would seem that you could capture my sweet, sensitive, considerate side and lose the big, muscular, scarey image that most pictures show. How can one person be so good with writing and photography ,,, where do your talents stop?

You have a definite talent! I love the photos! They capture some beautiful and touching moments. We’ve been wanting to take a family photo for quite sometime, hopefully within the next few months we will get to it. I wish you lived closer, I’d pay you to take one! Then I’d know for sure it would be a quality one.

Yes, all the best. I’m with Clarence. I am more of a word-woman. My daughter is off to study art and photography in Santa Fe. She has the eye, and I have the word well ( at least that is the dream). Wonderful photos, Linda.

Brenda,
If we could only get people to sit for literal portraits instead of just pictoral ones. I can make people look good in words, but it is kind of tough to hang that from the living room wall.
I once thought that I could write love letters for people, but I don’t know how good I would feel about that; whose love woud it be, anyway. A little bit of Cerino. I like my nose, though.

I think you can make anyone look beautiful with your photography. Sometimes my pictures are so terrible that I oftne wonder if that is really the ugly side of me. LOL!

Hi, Rimly! –
Thank you for the compliment.
Truly, my photography is an artistic and a spiritual practice of seeing the beauty in each individual and capturing that essence. I would love to take your picture some day! You are such an exotic beauty!
